Glorious Gala Dinner

On Saturday 15th October, Cardiac Rehab held a Gala Dinner at the Frensham Pond Hotel to celebrate 25 years of the Rehab Centre being open in Alton. The event was the culmination of a year of fundraising to mark the anniversary and to help secure the future of the Centre for the next 25 years.

Guests were entertained with a performance by local signer Baiba Silvpe during the reception followed by magic from Danny of Red Hat Magic at their tables during dinner.  Guest speaker, the Olympic and World Champion 400m runner Roger Black MBE entertained the audience after dinner with a moving account of how he overcame a cardiac condition to achieve athletic success at the highest level, before a special thank you was given to the founders of the Cardiac Rehab Centre, Dr Hugh Bethell MBE and Dr Sally Turner, who have both recently retired from active service at the charity.

The event included an auction and raised over £4,300 which took the total of the 25th Anniversary appeal to refurbish the Centre and make it fit for the next 25 years to an above target total of £232,000 – a fabulous end to a remarkable year for the charity.

“It has been a very special year and the Gala Dinner rounded it off perfectly.  On behalf of the Rehab Team, I would like to thank Roger Black for donating his time, the many local businesses who gave their support, the individuals who gave so generously to the auction, as well as everyone who attended on the night.”
