Neil Clelland raises funds for Cardiac Rehab during 2012
In Neil's words:- "I am raising money for a number of charities which are close to my heart by completing my own little Challenge 500! The idea is to travel a total of 500 km during 2012 by doing 4 different running events and 4 different triathlon events.
- 10 km run (er, 10 km)
- 10 mile run (16.1 km)
- Half-marathon (21.1 km)
- Marathon (42.2 km)
- Sprint distance triathlon (25.8 km)
- Olympic distance triathlon (51.5 km)
- Middle distance triathlon (113.1 km)
- Iron distance triathlon (226.2 km)

The Annual Rehab Lecture 2011 - The World of the Bayeux Tapestry
Rupert Willoughby gave a fascinating account of how the Bayeux Tapestry is preserved and displayed in Bayeux in Normandy, France and tells the history of the Norman Conquest in startling and blood-thirsty detail. Mr Willoughby also pointed out that if you want to see the tapestry you do not have to go to Bayeux as there is a replica in the Museum in Reading. Over 100 attendees enjoyed the talk together with a glass of wine and a range of canapes. It is expected that the lecture and related donations will raise over £4,800 for the Charity.

Cardiac Rehab Race Night with Curry Supper
60 enthusiasts attended the Race Night at the Cardiac Rehab Centre. Auctioning of horses was carried out with great success by Jerry Janes and David Gay brilliantly compered the evening. Many thanks to Jimmy Patel and family for a wonderful curry supper and Will Spooner and his family, from the Wheatsheaf Inn in the Market Square Alton, for running the Tote so professionally. The evening is expected to have raised over £1,100 for the Charity.

Cardiac Rehab/Alton Rotary Alton Community Walk
The annual walk took place in brilliant weather on Sunday 16th October after a complimentary cup of coffee at the Wheatsheaf. There was a choice of a 9 mile or 6 mile route with most walkers choosing the longer distance. The route was marked and marshalled by members of Alton Heart Support Club and Alton Rotary Club to whom many thanks. It is expected the the walk will have raised over £1,000 for Cardiac Rehab. Many thanks to everyone who walked and raised sponsorship for the Charity.

Sainsbury's Alton Collection
The collection at Sainsbury's on Tuesday 4th October raised £397.27 for Cardiac Rehab. Many thanks to everyone who supported the Charity by both donating and collecting.

Basingstoke Half Marathon
Alan Bateman and Richard Pilbeam, both of whom have benefitted or have relatives that have benefitted from the Charity's services ran the Basingstoke Half Marathon in support of Cardiac Rehab. Sponsorship has raised nearly £3,500 to date - many thanks to Alan and Richard and everyone who supported them.

Hog Roast with Jazz
Around 100 people supported the Hog Roast with jazz in aid of Cardiac Rehab. Guests enjoyed sparkling wine, a hog roast with accompanying salads and new potatoes al to the rhythm of the Jazz Summit band. An auction and raffle also contributed to the over £3,000 raised by the event.Many thanks to all the organisers, donors of prizes and participants.

Alton Lions-Cardiac Rehab Golf Day
This event takes place at Test Valley Golf Club and teams of four play 18 hole stableford. There are a range of prizes and a two course meal on completion of the golf. It is a great day of golf and please contact Dave Crocker on 01420 85358 if you would like to play.

Lakeland Ultra - 50 mile mountain marathon
Tom Bransby-Zachary and David Utteridge, both with family members who have experienced heart problems, completed the 50 mile Lakeland Ultra mountain marathon on 30th July 2011 in aid of Cardiac Rehab in 17.5 hours and came 285th out of 800 runners. Tom and David have currently raised over £1400 for Cardiac Rehab but you can still recognise their achievement via wwwjustgiving.com/lakelandultra

Festival Place, Basingstoke Collection
Many thanks to the public who donated and the 23 Friends of Cardiac Rehab who collected the magnificent sum of ££437.92 for the Charity at the street collection in Festival Place.

Alton Social Bowling Club
The Club's "Spider Event" raised £60 for Cardiac Rehab which has been used to purchase Pound for Life tokens which can be sold in the Cardiac Rehab Centre to raise further funds. Many thanks to all that took part.

Bentley & Froyle Walk
Over 90 walkers took part in a 10 mile or less walk in glorious countryside including breakfast, lunch and tea. They enjoyed a sociable day out in wonderful surroundings meeting at East Green, Bentley for breakfast then walking through woodland and farm land towards Alice Holt Forest and Binsted. Lunch at Isnage Farm and then a walk to Froyle where tea was served. Money was raised for Cardiac Rehab Charity and the fabric of Bentley, Binsted and Froyle churches. Cardiac rehab received £1,703.60 and many thanks to everyone who walked and contributed. Many thanks also to John and Jane Harrap for organising the walk and providing a wonderful breakfast, Rowan Downing for the superb lunch and Jenny and Ian Dundas for the scrumptious tea.

Alton Beer Festival - Alton Maltings
The Alton Beer Festival took place in the Alton Maltings, Maltings Close, Alton GU34 1DT. Collections were made during both sessions for Cardiac Rehab and raised £523.50 for Cardiac Rehab. Future Alton Beer festivals will take place at Alton College.

Paintings, Books and Plants Sale
A Paintings, Books and Plants sale was held at the Cardiac Rehab Centre with a Private View the previous evening which was also supported by Holybourne Rare Books from Market Street, Alton. The paintings were created by artists from The Hampshire Artists Co-operative and a contribution from their sale, plus all the proceeds from the plant and book sale which amounted to over £850 in aid of Cardiac Rehab.

Alternative Wedding Reception Ball
Over 100 people enjoyed the Ball held at the Maltings in Alton on the night of the Royal Wedding in aid of Cardiac Rehab. Guests were treated to a champagne and canapes reception followed by a delicious feast provided by the Balti House Tandoori from Market Street, Alton. During the meal guests were entertained by a dance display by the dancers from the Bell House Dance Studio. An extensive raffle and opportunity to win a Ford Fiesta, provided by Caffyns Ford, were played for during the evening and the band, Red Zone, ensured the dance floor was full until the evening ended. Many thanks to Shirley Jennings of the Shoe Orchard and Alley Cats and Joan Mossop of St Marys Bed and Breakfast and all their helpers for making it such a successful evening. The evening is expected to raise £3,800 for the Cardiac Rehab Charity.

Jan Osborne Successfully Completes the London Marathon
Congratulations and thanks to Jan Osborne, one of the exercise instructors for Cardiac Rehab, who ran the London Marathon with sponsorship raised going to Cardiac Rehab. Jan completed the course (even with an injured foot) in 4 hours 8 minutes. Jan has raised £1,350 to date and there is still time to recognise Jan's achievement via her fundraising website www.justgiving.com/jan-osborne0 or at the Cardiac Rehab Centre or by telephoning 01420 544794.

Fashion Show - Cardiac Rehab Centre
Local fashion businesses showcased their Spring-Summer 2011 collections at a Fashion Show in aid of Cardiac Rehab held at the Cardiac Rehab Centre. It was a very successful evening with nearly £500 being raised for Cardiac Rehab. Many thanks to Joan Mossop and Angela Davis for organising the event and to PS Lingerie, The Shoe Orchard and Qwirky Women businesses in Alton for supporting the evening.

Alton Town Collection
The street collection in Alton on Saturday 2nd April collected £612 for Cardiac Rehab. Many thanks to all the visitors and shoppers in Alton for their donations and to the 30+ volunteers who gave of their time to collect.

Bridge and Supper
72 bridge players enjoyed a bridge evening and supper at St Mary's Catholic Church Hall in Alton. Ticket sales plus the raffle raised £1,712 for Cardiac Rehab. Many thanks to the Gillie's and Young's for organising the evening and to everyone who participated and helped in the organisation of the evening.

Wear jeans to work on a Friday at Eli Lilly's Basingstoke office resulted in a donation from their employees of £200 to Cardiac Rehab, which is very much appreciated.

Farringdon Horticultural Society
Farringdon Horticultural Society have arranged a number of gardening talks in the Alton Maltings Centre, which have been very well attended, and have resulted in donations to a range of charities. Cardiac Rehab is very appreciative of the £200 donation they have received.
