The last two fixtures were held at Weybrook Park in October and Blackmoor in November. Both were superb venues and a great couple of rounds of golf were played. Attached are the results and the latest handicap lists. We will be in a position to post the fixture list for 2018 at the end of January.
In the meantime thank you for supporting the Golf Society and we look forward to seeing you next year - and remember we are always open to new members so feel free to introduce friends and family.
Wishing you all best wishes for Christmas and a happy New Year
Please find below the results of the Basingstoke Fixture and the latest Golf Society Handicap List.
Congratulations to the overall winner Tony Hazel with 42 stableford points. Richard Butt won the Mens Div 1 with 36 points and Steve Hodge won Div 2 with 39 points. Nearest the pin in 2 was won by Ken Hood, Nearest the pin men was won by Danny Tomiczek and Nearest the Pin Lady was won by Pat Hilton.
As happened at the Army fixture last year, we found the July attendance was lower than other times in our fixture list due to annual holidays.
However 20 intrepid golfers made the day and the results ranged from the superb to the not so superb! The large numbers of holes where water came into play defeated some and a good amount of golf balls were never to be seen again,
However there were a number who came in with excellent scores, and didn't let a little drop of water phase them, resulting in a count-back situation to determine the overall winner.
Many congratulations to Mike Butler who won the day with an excellent score of 39 points. John Frost won Division 2, also with 39 points and David Stubbs won Division 1 with 36 points. Lissa Wilson won the ladies, another 39 points. So well done to all and some hefty handicap cuts all round.
The full results and handicap changes are shown below.
Another good turn out for East Berks and the weather was kind to us again. East Berks is a beautiful course and popular with many of our society members.
The course was in excellent condition and a challenge to us all. Many congratulations to our overall winner with a superb 38 points - BOB BOSWORTH. The winner of the mens Division 1 was Colin Hersey with 32 points, the winner of the mens Division 2 was Steve Hodge with 32 points and the Ladies winner with 36 points was Lene Rasmussen. Congratulations to all our winners.
As usual the results and handicap changes are attached below.
Here are the details of the QUARTER FINALS of the mens knockout .
Please find attached a copy of the AGM minutes, April 2017.
A great time was had by all. With the long spell of dry weather we have had the course was playing as if it were mid-Summer. And the scores reflected it too.
It was a closely fought competition.
Neil Frost won the Mens Division 1 (Handicaps 0 - 21) with 37 Points, Martyn Lillywhite won the Mens Division 2 (Handicaps 22 - 28) with 40 points and Karen Frost won the Ladies with 34 points.
Our overall winner with an excellent score of 41 points was Fran Winsor (pictured below 2nd from left)
The full results and revised handicaps are in the file attachments.
Looking forward to our next fixture at the Army Golf Club on Monday 22nd May.
23rd March saw the first fixture of the year being played at Alresford Golf Club. There had been torrential rain over night but right on cue as the first group were about to Tee off the rain stopped and the sun even tried to shine. It was a cold and windy day, but we stayed dry. The course was in excellent condition and the overnight rain did not affect the course at all. A good all year course and an excellent choice for the start of the season. The meal was excellent and everyone was in cheery mood.
Congratulations to Ken Hood our overall winner. Adam Chambers won the Mens Division 1, Alan Ferguson won the Mens Division 2 and Lissa Wilson won the Ladies.
Attached are the full results and the latest society handicap list.

Our final fixture of the year was at Blackmoor Golf Club, but it was not just about the golf - more of that later. We are very pleased to announce Ted Snelling (pictured left), Captain of the Cardiac Rehab Golf Society presented a cheque to Chris Youngs, Chairman of Alton and Basingstoke Cardiac Rehab (pictured right). The donation enables the purchase of a rowing machine, treadmill and a year's maintenance contract for all the gym equipment.
Ted presented a cheque to the value of £8,368.80 on behalf of the Golf Society Members. Teresa Frost, Secretary, thanked all the members (past and present) for their generosity. A fantastic end to the 2016 season and 10th anniversary of the Golf Society.
The final event of the year is always a special one and everyone was in good spirits. The full golf results are posted below. Many congratulations to the overall winner Adam Chambers.
After the golf we sat down to an excellent meal and raised a glass to the memory of Barry Spurgeon.
A big thank you to all our members and we look forward to an even more successful 2017. Full details of the fixtures for 2017 will be published shortly and Teresa will also email further details to all the members in January.
We wish you and your families a very happy Christmas and very best wishes for 2107.
10 Years of Cardiac Rehab Golf Society
Our final fixture of the year is at Blackmoor Golf Club on Wednesday 9th November 2016. We are very pleased to welcome Chris Youngs, Chairman of the Alton Cardiac Rehab Charity, and Martin Lovell, General Manager. On this special day, and hopefully all in good spirits after a great game of golf, we will be presenting a cheque to purchase equipment for the gym. The donation is from the funds all our society members have contributed to in recent years. We will raise a glass of wine to celebrate our 10 years and to remember Barry Spurgeon and Len Mills who founded the society.
A big thank you to all of you who have contributed over the years and here's looking forward to 2017.
Barry Spurgeon co-founded the Cardiac Rehab Golf Society 10 years ago, with Len Mills. Sadly Barry passed away recently and a long illness and we are sure you will join us in offering his family our condolences. Barry was a great character and will be sadly missed. At our last fixture of the year at Blackmoor we will be raising a toast to Barry and remember all he did for us.
Tylney Park October 2016
Another balmy autumn day, the sun was shining and it was very warm for the time of year. The attachments below give the detailed results and the latest handicaps. There were a few cuts, but the course was a challenge to many of us, our highest score on the day was 36 points.
Congratulations to Martyn Lillywhite who was the overall winner (on count-back). Richard Butt was the winner of Division 1 and Adam Chambers (just lost out on count-back) was the Division 2 Winner. Diane Baycroft won the Ladies section.
Another great fixture, the weather was superb, dare we say it - even a little too warm. The course was in excellent condition and playing well so as a result we saw some very good scores - so a few handicap cuts!!
Many congratulations to Mike McNicholas who won the day overall and also had the first prize of a two ball voucher for the Army Golf Course.
Roy Martin won the Division 1 Men and Martyn Lillywhite won the Division 2 Men and Jill Stubbs won the ladies.
We play again on Friday 14th October and have a full field of 36 players. Tylney Park is a new fixture for 2016 and we are looking forward to experiencing this fantastic course.
The results from the Basingstoke fixture and the Society Handicap list are attached for your information.
Great Weather and Great Golf!!
The weather was excellent, not as hot as the previous week so ideal conditions to play in. The golf - the course was excellent, but the Army Golf club is soon to host a major competition, so as not to make it too easy for the Pro's the rough was very rough, the fairways firm and the greens like lightning.
Amazingly, bearing in mind the course was very tough, there were some very good scores and whilst the players were exhausted they had enjoyed a great day out.
So many congratulations to Steve Hodge who was the overall winner with 34 points. A tremendous score on the day. Mike Davies was the Division 1 winner with 33 points and Nick Burnett the Division 2 winner with 27 points. Sally Davies won the Ladies with 26 points.
We have a rest in August - The Lions Club are hosting a Charity Golf day, with the proceeds going to Alton Cardiac Rehab at Test Valley Golf Club on August 10th.
The next Cardiac Rehab Golf Society Fixture takes place on Thursday 1st September. Teresa Frost will be sending out details to the Golf Society members in a few weeks time.
Enjoy the summer and looking forward to seeing you all soon, Teresa Frost, Secretary, Cardiac Rehab Golf Society
Another great day out and the weather was perfect for golf. The previous day there were thunder storms and torrential rain, but Friday morning the sun was shining. Luckily the rain had stopped the previous evening allowing the course to drain. Always a favourite course with the Cardiac Rehab Golf Society members, once again conditions were superb and followed by an excellent meal.
Congratulations to ADAM CHAMBERS, our overall winner on the day. He had a superb game and gave his new golf clubs an airing. The other winners on the day: Winner Division One, Men was Philip Larking, Winner of Division 2, Men was Andy Gagen and Teresa Frost was the Ladies winner.
Here is Adam (on the right) receiving the "Jason Glover trophy" from Golf Society Captain, Ted Snelling.
Below are the full results and the latest Cardiac Rehab Golf Society Handicap List (please note the handicaps are for the society only and may differ from an individual's official club CONGU handicap).
See how you did at the Blacknest Fixture.
Another great day of golf took place at Blacknest Golf and Country Club, with 28 of us venturing out. Some excellent results on the day, with John Frost winning with a total of 38 points (on count back) and a subsequent handicap cut to 23. Bob Bosworth won the Mens Division 1 and Mike McNicholas won the Mens Division 2. Sally Davies was the winner of the Ladies.
After the meal, raffle and prize giving the Golf Society's AGM was held. The minutes of this meeting will be posted separately.
A big thank you to all those who attended the Blacknest Fixture. We made a total of £290 on the day.
Full details of our joining instruction, fixtures and constitution are avilable here.
As well as a fun day out, money is made for donation to the Alton Cardiac Rehab Centre, namely to purchase equipment and maintenance of equipment for the gym.
The 2016 season kicked off in March and was won by Peter Bradley – congratulations Peter. April sees us playing at Petersfield Golf Club and we have a record turn out of 50 due to play. All our fixture winners receive a Trophy and a 1st prize of a round of golf for two people. We also have a number of other prizes on the day and run a raffle.
A big thank you to all our members for your support over the years, and here’s looking forward to many successful and fun years to come.
