New Phase IV classes introduced
In order to ease the pressure on some very full classes we have introduced a new Intermediate Plus class on Wednesday afternoons and a new non-Machine class on Thursday afternoons.

Annual Lecture 2007 - Alan Titchmarsh
An audience of over 300 heard Alan Titchmarsh at Alton Maltings on 7th November. He gave a talk on the "Natural History of your Garden", laced with jokes and anecdotes that generated a lot of laughs. This was a very successful event and will have generated over £8,000 for the Charity. Alan lives locally in Holybourne, near Alton, and is a vice-president of the Charity.

John O'Shea ran the 2007 London Marathon for Cardiac Rehab and raised a total of £825 in sponsorship and Gift Aid.

The White Hart, Holybourne has donated £600 to Cardiac Rehab, being the proceeds of a clay pigeon shoot organised by the landlords.

Award for Peter and Jackie Allen
Peter and Jackie Allen have spent over 15 years running the Tea Bar at Basingstoke Magistrates Court (taken over by Cardiac Rehab in 2003). In recognition of their dedication, on 17th October they were presented with an award at a reception hosted by the Mayor of Basingstoke, as part of the town's "Celebration of Volunteering 2007".

The Wives Group of St Mary's Church, Bentworth have donated £530 to Cardiac Rehab, being the proceeds from an open garden event and lunch.

Volunteer link with Alton College
We have come to an agreement with Alton College that we can offer volunteering opportunities to their students. This will be of particular interest to those students who intend to take medical degrees in the future.

Rehab Ramble 2007
About 50 walkers tackled the ramble on Sunday 9th September, from the Centre to Farringdon and back. About
£1,700 will have been raised from this event. Special thanks to members of Alton Heart Support Club for setting out and marshalling the route.

A street collection in Festival Place, Basingstoke on 11th August raised £870 for the Charity.

Cardiac Rehab Centre's 10th Anniversary Party
On the hottest day of the year (5th August) over 300 guests ate a buffet lunch and sipped cocktails, and drank to future decades of Cardiac Rehab's successful exercise treatment programmes. Guests included George Hood, Deputy Mayor of Basingstoke and Alton Town Councillor Atul Patel (both former users of the Centre) as well as staff, exercisers and supporters of the Charity from over the past 10 years. There was a lot of catching up with old friends. Speeches were made by Sir James Scott (Patron of the Charity), Dr Andrew Bishop (clinical director of the North Hampshire Hospital) and Dr Hugh Bethell (one of the Charity's founders). The Grand Summer Draw was also held on the day, having raised about £4,200 for the Charity.

The Rotary Club of Basingstoke Deane's President Roy Schuster presented Cardiac Rehab with a donation cheque for £3,000 at the Charity's party to celebrate 10 years of operating in its Alton Centre.

Phase IV breaks the 19,000 barrier
For the year ending 31st July 2007 the number of Phase IV attendances at exercise sessions broke the 19,000 mark for the first time. This represented a 600 increase on the figure for the year ending 31st July 2006.

Shalden Horticultural Society has donated £250 to Cardiac Rehab from the proceeds of the recent Shalden Village Fete.

Elvetham Masonic Lodge has donated £1,500 to Cardiac Rehab.

Jan Osborne, one of Cardiac Rehab's exercise instructors, ran the 2007 London Marathon for the charity and raised a total of £1,515 in sponsorship and Gift Aid. Chris Royston also ran in the race and raised for the charity a total of £1,270 in sponsorship and Gift Aid.

100 Mile Sponsored Walk
We have now received all of the sponsorship money from this event, organised annually by Mr Tony Maxse of Selborne. The total raised for Cardiac Rehab was over £10,700. Many thanks to all walkers (including some of our own staff) and sponsors!

2nd Alton Boys Brigade has raised over £500 for the Charity in sponsorship money and Gift Aid as a result of their 5+ mile sponsored row (in the Cardiac Rehab gym, simulating "Alton to Bentley").
